Six large concrete rings have been provided by Seymour Civil Engineering to neighbourhood police to stop nuisance and criminal use of off-road bikes, quad bikes and cars at Summerhill country park.

Weighing between a quarter and half a tonne Seymour donated, delivered and installed the rings that will be used to block access to fields, and protect crops and livestock.

Extra patrols by police and council officers were also introduced after the upsurge in incidents following the onset of the lighter nights.

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team’s Temporary Chief Inspector Mark Haworth said earlier this year: “Officers are regularly patrolling the area following reports of criminal damage and issues with off-road bikes.

“We want to ensure Summerhill Country Park continues to be enjoyed by our communities and this behaviour is not acceptable. If you see behaviour you’re concerned about, or have information which could assist the police, please call 101.”
