A teenage boy who fled after being hit by a van in Shotton Colliery has been found.

Police issued an appeal for help in tracking down the boy, believed to be around 16-years-old who ran out in front of a van in Marcia Avenue, Shotton Colliery, at around 2.55pm on Sunday, July 12.

Officers were concerned for the boy’s welfare following the incident and launched an appeal on social media asking for help to trace him.

Now Durham Constabulary have confirmed that the teenager has been found, thanks to the help of the public.

A force spokeswoman said: “The teenage boy who we wanted to trace after he was hit by a van in Shotton Colliery yesterday has been found.

“He was found as a result of our Facebook appeal, so a big thank you to everyone who shared the original post.”
