Third arrest as police investigate attempted murder in Hartlepool

A man was left seriously injured when he was struck by a car in a Hartlepool street on Saturday, July 11.
Cleveland Police was called to an area close to Romaine Park in the town at 7.30pm on Saturday, following the collision.

Hide AdThe incident left a 29-year-old man with serious injuries and he was taken to hospital by the North East Ambulance Service.
In the aftermath of the crash, officers taped off a grassed area off West View Road, next to the Golden Chippy and The Central club, as well as the lane which runs down the back of the buildings.
Two men, aged 21 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but have since been released on conditional bail.
The force confirmed on Monday, July 13 that a 31-year-old man has also been arrested as the investigation continues.

Hide AdA spokeswoman said: "As investigations continue into an incident where a man was struck by a car in Romaine Park, Hartlepool, on Saturday evening, a third man, aged 31, has been arrested.
"He remains in custody awaiting questioning.
“Two other men, age 21 and 30, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder were questioned and released on conditional bail.
“The victim remains in hospital undergoing treatment although his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
“Inquiries are ongoing and we would again appeal for anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number quoting Ref 112003, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
