Trial set for Hartlepool man accused of having half a kilo of amphetamines

A Hartlepool man is set to go on trial later this year accused of being in possession of a large amount of amphetamines more than two years ago.

Terrance Thompson, 52, is alleged to have been caught with around half a kilo of the illegal drug on June 23 in 2019.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply it to another person when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Friday.

A trial at the Middlesbrough court was fixed for Wednesday, December 15, of this year.

The case is expected to last two days.

Judge Timothy Stead told Thompson at the end of the brief hearing: “You are entitled to a trial if you wish and that’s what’s going to happen as things stand.”

Thompson, of Kendal Road, in Hartlepool, was granted unconditional bail until the start of the trial.
