Truck set on fire after being reversed into front of Hartlepool home as two men in balaclavas flee scene

Two men wearing black balaclavas were seen fleeing a Hartlepool street after a truck was reversed into the front of a property and set on fire.

The incident happened on Serpentine Gardens in Hartlepool at around 7.45pm on Tuesday, April 7.

The victim, who was watching TV at the time, heard a loud bang and an explosion.

He opened the front door and saw black smoke billowing from the front of the truck, and two men – who were wearing black clothes and balaclavas – running towards a light-coloured vehicle.

They jumped into the rear of the vehicle and it drove off.

The truck is described as white cabbed Ford flatbed truck with a cage on the back.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said “substantial” structural damage was caused to the property. An investigation is underway.
