A 12-year-old boy was threatened with a blade in a terrifying street robbery in Hartlepool.

Police are appealing for help after the youngster was robbed in Masefield Road in the town, near to the junction of Gulliver Road, yesterday evening.

The robbery occurred at around 6pm on Monday, January 4, when the victim was approached by a male carrying a bladed article under his jacket sleeve who demanded money from the boy.

The robber is described as being 5 ft 9”tall, of thin build and was aged between 17 and 18-years-old. He was wearing a balaclava over his head.

Officers are appealing for anyone who knows the identity of the teenager or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Hartlepool CID on 101 quoting incident reference 001964.
