But due to the coronavirus restrictions, the trial could not go ahead.

A new date for the case has been fixed for Monday, August 17, at the crown court in Middlesbrough, and is expected to last five days.

Both brothers also deny grievous bodily harm of Shaun Brown. They are also jointly charged with burgling properties in Fieldfare Road, Hartlepool, and Catcote Road, Hartlepool, on November 16.

Lee Clarke, of Wingfield Close, Hartlepool, has also pleaded not guilty to criminal damage of a door at a Hartlepool social club and contacting a woman in breach of a restraining order imposed at Teesside Crown Court on November 8, 2016.
