Two Hartlepool men appear in court charged with £15,000 Barclays Bank robbery

Two men have appeared in court after being charged with stealing £15,000 in a robbery at Barclays Bank in Hartlepool.

Gavin Daniel Wilson, 42, of Pinero Grove, Hartlepool, and Owen Faulkner, 49, of Jameson Road, Hartlepool, appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday, June 15.

The details of the charge read out to the court stated that over £15,000 was stolen belonging to Barclays Bank.

Wilson is also charged with possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a Class A drug; cocaine.

No formal pleas were entered during Monday’s hearings and both defendants were committed to Teesside Crown Court where they are due to make their first appearance on Monday, July 13.

District Judge Helen Cousins told them both the matter could only be dealt with at the crown court.

Wilson was remanded in custody, but Faulkner was granted conditional bail.

Police were called to reports the bank was being robbed at around 10.10am on Friday, June 12.

The bank was cordoned off for several hours by police while investigations were ongoing.

Faulkner was arrested later that day.

The court ordered Faulkner not to enter any Barclays Bank as part of his conditions or bail.A 39-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
