Two men arrested after 'burglary in progress' alarm is raised in Hartlepool street

Cleveland Police officers were called to Melrose Street in the town’s Foggy Furze area over reports of a “burglary in progress”.

Two men, aged 34 and 48, were arrested in connection with the report.

Cleveland Police have said the men have since been released under investigation while inquiries continue and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

The alleged incident took place on Saturday, June 5, at around 8.15 pm.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Police were called to a report of a burglary in progress in Melrose Street just after 8.15pm on Saturday evening, June 5.

"Two men (34 and 48) were arrested in connection with the report and they were interviewed then released under investigation while inquiries continue.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting ref 51532.”
