Two people arrested and four vehicles seized after officers storm three addresses in dawn raids

Police have arrested two men after searching addresses in Easington, Blackhall and Horden and four untaxed vehicles were seized in connection with the offences.

Durham Constabulary arrested two men this morning, Wednesday, March 3 following police activity on the east coast of the county.

Officers executed three magistrates’ search warrants at addresses in Easington, Blackhall and Horden.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the address on Bourne Street, Easington Colliery on suspicion of attempted theft from a motor vehicle.

Another man aged 21-years-old was arrested at a property on Warren Street, Horden on suspicion of attempted theft from a motor vehicle, theft from a shop, and making off without payment.

Four untaxed vehicles were also seized in connection with the offences.

DS Mark Garfoot said: “We’d like to reassure residents in these areas that we will always act on intelligence gathered through communities and investigation.

“I’d encourage anyone with information relating to criminal activity to have the confidence to get in touch with us.

“We won’t tolerate criminality, and we hope that this positive action demonstrates that.”
