Using a phone while driving and other recent Hartlepool motoring offences

The following cases from the Hartlepool area were dealt with recently at Teesside Magistrates’ Court:

Thomas Shawn Storer, 30, of Osprey Way, Hartlepool, was banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay a £440 fine, £44 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without insurance on August 30.

Bethan Roberts, 30, of Parton Street, Hartlepool, was ordered to pay an £180 fine, £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without insurance on March 17 last year.

Michael Tomkins, 28, of Lakeview, Wingate, received six penalty points and ordered to pay a £40 fine, £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving while using a hand-held phone in Hartlepool on September 11, 2019.

Anthony Willis, 42, of Brendon Crescent, Billingham, was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a £230 fine, £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drug driving and possessing class B drugs on December 7.

Harrison Joseph Young, 23, of Saville Close, Wynyard, was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a £240 fine, £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without insurance and failing to provide a specimen of blood for a test when required to do so on April 14-15.

Kerry Steel, 44, of Ashdown Way, Billingham, was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay an £162 fine, £34 victim surcharge and £200 costs after admitting drug driving on April 19 last year.

Liam Daniel Bate, 32, of Huxley Walk, Hartlepool, was fined £108 and ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £620 costs after admitting using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on August 29 and committing an offence while serving a suspended sentence.
