Woman admits causing over £4,000 damage by vandalising Hartlepool neighbour's car

A woman has appeared in court after vandalising a neighbour’s car and causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Lorraine Mcclelland, 34, pleaded guilty at Teesside Magistrates’ Court to criminal damage of another woman’s car in Hartlepool on July 12 of this year.

Police were called by the victim at around 11.30pm to say her next door neighbour was damaging her car.

It is understood Mcclelland made a series of large scratches to all four panels on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

A front tyre was also deflated when police arrived. The value of the damage came to £4,365.

An allegation that the defendant also assaulted the owner of the car was dismissed and a not guilty verdict was recorded.

Mcclelland, now of Manor Drive, Bradford, was granted bail by the court but must return for sentencing next month.

A pre-sentence report will be prepared in the meantime to help magistrates decide what punishment to impose.
