Woman admits stealing from Hartlepool's Miles for Men charity seven times

A woman has pleaded guilty in court to numerous charges of stealing money from popular Hartlepool charity Miles for Men.

Emma Miller, 34, admitted seven counts of theft totalling £160 from the charity, which supports local people fighting cancer and other illnesses, when she appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Monday, October 5.

She stole the money over a two-day period between February 10 and 12 this year.

A pre-sentence report was ordered to be prepared for Miller, of York Road.

She will return to the court to be sentenced on Friday, November 6, and was granted unconditional bail in the meantime.

Miles for Men were named the Community Group of the Year in last year’s Best of Hartlepool Awards for its efforts to support local people.

It raises money through its Extra Mile shop in Middleton Grange shopping centre, and team members and supporters have continued to raise funds throughout lockdown in a wide range of challenges.
