Woman seriously injured by dog in Hartlepool park

A woman was taken to hospital with a serious injury after she was knocked over by an “out-of-control” dog.

Police are now appealing for the public’s help in tracing the animal and its owners following the incident in Burn Valley Gardens, Hartlepool, on Tuesday, July 21.

A Cleveland Police statement issued on Wednesday said: “The woman was in the park at around 3pm yesterday when a lurcher-type dog tried to attack her dog.

"In the process of trying to separate them, the lady was knocked over by the out-of-control dog and was taken to North Tees General Hospital with a serious back injury.

“The dog is described as 'sandy' coloured and was with a couple who had a child in a pram.

“Anyone who witnessed this, or anyone with information, is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting 117870.”
