Danny Batth reveals how his Championship experience can help Middlesbrough reach the Premier League

The towering centre-back joined Tony Pulis' side on a season-long loan from Wolves last week, following a five-year spell with the Wanderers in England's second tier.

Batth, 27, was the club captain at Molyneux, where he helped Nuno Espirito Santo's side win promotion to the top-flight last campaign.

But the defender is yet to start a single game in the Premier League this campaign, prompting his move to the North East.

Wolves' loss appears to be Boro's gain, though, and Batth believes his promotion experience can bolster Boro's chances of returning to the top-flight.

“I think I’ve got good experience now,” he said.

“I’ve played a number of games and captained Wolves for a long time.

“Hopefully I can add to an already experienced dressing room we’ve got here at Middlesbrough, fit in and enjoy it.”

Batth will have to earn his place at the Riverside, and it won't be easy to break into a defence which has only conceded two goals this campaign.

Even so, Batth is ready for the challenge, and is relishing the chance to try and win a second consecutive promotion.

“I’ve seen the lads play a few times on the telly, the manager’s got a lot of experience and it’s a great set-up,” Batth said.

“I think the players, the supporters and everyone likewise will want to get promoted, but at the same time it’s one thing saying it and another thing doing it.

“We’ve got a lot of hard work to do between now and the end of the season and hopefully we will be there or thereabouts.”
