Death of man whose body was found at Hartlepool Rovers rugby club is 'not suspicious'

Officers were called to Hartlepool Rovers’ New Friarage ground in West View Road yesterday morning, Sunday, September 6.
A club spokesman said at the time that he was unable to confirm details but added: “There has been a serious incident at the club, which is being dealt with, and the police are in attendance.”

Hide AdCleveland Police confirmed later in the day that an investigation was under way into the death of a man and appealed for anyone who may be able to help to come forward.
Now the force has confirmed that it has ruled out any third party involvement.
A spokesperson said: “A man has now been formally identified after a body was found in the grounds of Hartlepool Rovers Rugby Football Club around 10.40am on Sunday morning, 6th September.
"The man is aged 29 and from the local area. Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family, and our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.

Hide Ad"A post mortem examination has been carried out and the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
"A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
Police would be interested to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of the Rugby Club in the early hours of this morning and may have seen a male in the area to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 145762.
