Derby County give Hartlepool United their Â£23,000 share of FA Cup receipts

Hartlepool United have been handed a Â£23,000 boost after Derby County handed back their FA Cup gate receipts.

The Championship side beat Pools 2-1 at Victoria Park on Saturday in the third round of the competition in front of a crowd of 4,860.

And Derby have decided to give back their share of the gate receipts to League Two Pools.

It is a welcome boost for the club, with Ronnie Moore looking to strengthen the squad this month.

A total of 935 Derby fans made the trip from the Midlands.

Pools took the lead through Jake Gray's spectacular volley but Derby pegged them back through Jacob Butterfield's fine equaliser.

Darren Bent hit the Rams' winner late on - his 200th career goal - past former Sunderland AFC teammate Trevor Carson.
