Dog rescued after becoming trapped between rocks in Hartlepool
Hartlepool Stanton Fire and Rescue crews were called to the promenade by Newburn Bridge around 1pm to reports of a dog trapped between rocks.
Crew manager John Moore said they were on scene for an hour trying to free the dog which had become lodged after its owner threw a ball which he was trying to retrieve.

Hide AdHe said: "We were called around 1pm today to the promenade by Newburn Bridge after a dog had become stuck between rocks after going to collect a ball his owner that thrown.
"We used hydraulic spreaders to move the rocks far enough apart to open a gap and one of our smaller fire fighters went down the gap and grabbed the dog and pulled it out.
"The dog was fine but a bit distressed."
