Elderly man suffers broken rib after attack outside Hartlepool takeaway
An elderly man had to be taken to hospital after he was attacked outside of a Hartlepool takeaway.
The 67-year-old man suffered a broken rib and ankle in the attack, which took place on Murray Street - outside of the Chinese takeaway shop - at around 5pm on Monday, August 13.
The victim was approached by two men who punched and kicked him.
Following the attack, he was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where he was treated for his injuries.
Police are now appealing for information to trace the attackers, who are believed to be two white men in their early 20s.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for information after a 67-year-old man was assaulted in Hartlepool.

"The incident occurred on Monday, August 13, at around 5pm when the victim was approached by two males who punched and kicked him.
"As a result of the assault the victim was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where he was treated for a broken ankle and a broken rib.
"Both of the men believed to be responsible are described as being white males in their early 20s.
"Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who knows who the men responsible are is asked to contact DC Becky Alderson from Cleveland Police on 101 quoting event number 148975.
