Warning after spate of fires at Summerhill Country Park in Hartlepool

Officers have issued a warning after a spate of fires have been reported at a Hartlepool park.

Safety officers are ramping up patrols in Summerhill Country Park after reports of fires being started deliberately in the area.

Hartlepool Community Safety Team has warned of the dangers of starting fires in the warmer weather, as they continue to monitor the area, following several reports of fires in the grounds.

A spokesperson said: “During the current warm weather any fires which are started may quickly get out of control and could not only cause considerable damage but also pose a risk to life for both the human visitors as well as the resident wildlife.”

Officers have urged anyone visiting the park this Bank Holiday weekend to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
