Firefighters tackle blaze at former Hartlepool care home
Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a disused Hartlepool care home.
Crews were called to Admiral Court in Cleveland Road shortly after 6pm this evening, Friday, April 23.
A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokeswoman said five appliances had initially been called to the fire, but one had subsequently been stood down.
"We had five pumps at the Admiral Court Care Home,” she said.
"The first call was at 18.01 and we went up to five pumps and we have just released one. We have now got four there.
"We have two breathing apparatus and a hose reel in use and we are currently damping down and turning over.”
Admiral Court, which specialised in nursing care, closed in mid-2015, after inspectors found a number of failings.
Residents had to move out and a number of staff lost their jobs. The home was run by Four Winds Care Ltd which went into liquidation.
