The central defender made his Pools bow in the midweek 1-1 draw at Braintree Town, a game where Matthew Bates' men came within a minute of securing their first three points of the National League season.

No win in four has many punters getting edgy, but that's not the case in the squad. Definitely not with laid back Anderson, who says a win is all it will take for Pools to get off and running.

"I was involved in the last game but have watched the first three from the bench," he said.

"I think you can see we are gelling as a team now.

"We are all understanding the roles that everyone has within the team.

"It's about keeping it simple and sticking to the gameplan the manager has set up for us.

"We are getting better game-by-game and we go into this weekend with a lot of confidence off the back of good performances.

"We are just looking for that first win. When it comes we can maybe relax a little bit mentally."

Positivity is the order of the day within the Pools dressing room.

And Anderson believes with every game the squad is improving.

"We looked very solid on Tuesday night. Everyone seemed to know their roles and responsibilities," he said.

"We stuck with it, stuck with the gameplan but unfortunately got hit with a sucker punch at the end of the game.

"All the signs are there and everything seems positive."
