Fire crews were called to Able Seaton Port on Thursday, August 6.

The blaze was out on arrival – but teams stayed to contain ‘two small pockets’ of fire at the scene.

A statement from Able UK added: “One of the topside structures linked to the Sable Island decommissioning project caught fire during initial enabling works.

“The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes by Able’s own on-site emergency response team, with further assistance from the fire brigade and there were no injuries.”

The Sable Decommissioning Project involves the recycling of 48,000 tons of topsides and jackets that formed the ExxonMobil-operated Sable Offshore Energy Project natural gas field.
