Gateshead seal double deal - including former Hartlepool United man
Gateshead have sealed a double signing ahead of the new National League season - and have captured a former Hartlepool United man.
Goalkeeper Mark Foden and striker Scott Boden have joined Steve Watson's new-look side ahead of the new campaign.
Foden, who was a former Hartlepool United trainee, signs a one-year-deal after a successful trial spell which has seen the stopper feature in all three of the Heed's friendlies.
The 22-year-old has also turned out for Ross County and Stirling Albion, but now returns home to the North East seeking regular football.
Speaking after signing, Foden said: "It's great to be here at a new club and at a club that is so close to home.
"Obviously my (Scottish) accent doesn't say it's that close to home but I live in the area so it's fantastic to find a club that has a real up and coming squad and the Gaffer is getting us well drilled.
"It's exciting times to be here at Gateshead and the first few weeks here have been really good. The lads have really taken to me and made me feel like I've been here since day one.
"I knew this was a place that I could come in and be part of the lads so I think this is the best place to come in and really push on."
Also joining the Heed is striker Scott Boden, who left divisional rivals Wrexham earlier this summer.
The 28-year-old also caught the eye during a trial spell at the International Stadium as he netted twice in two matches.
Boden pens a one-year deal at the club after spells playing in the Football League with Chesterfield and in the Scottish Premiership with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
