A stamp collector uses his hobby to raise much-needed cash for his local hospice.

For several years Geoffrey Davison has been visiting businesses in the Hartlepool area to collect used stamps for the Hartlepool and District Hospice.

The hospice sells the stamps to raise some of its £2.24million annual running costs.

Geoffrey, from Seaton Carew, said: “What I do is just one example of the different ways in which everyone can support this wonderful charity in our town.

“I’m delighted to be able to use my time to help the hospice, and I would urge more people and businesses to donate their stamps so they can be put to good use.”

Hospice fundraiser Greg Hildreth congratulated Geoffrey for his efforts.

“We would like to thank him,” said Greg. “And also express our gratitude to the individuals and companies who make this possible.
