Go Tri Hartlepool Triathletes Triathlon and Yes You Can Aquathlon proves popular

A triathlon event in Hartlepool proved a popular event for experienced and novice athletes alike.

The Go Tri event of swimming, cycling and running was held in and around Hartlepool’s Mill House Leisure Centre last weekend,

The event was a jointly organised with Hartlepool Borough Council and local triathlon club Hartlepool Triathletes whose “Yes You Can” running group had many taking part for the first time.

Kay Stokes, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Triathlon Activator, said: ”Go Tri’s are initiatives set up by Triathlon England to encourage people to have a go.

“They are more relaxed and have shorter distances, everyone is encouraged to do the best they can.

“Go Tri’s can also be used as training sessions for those wanting some more experience.

“A father and daughter had travelled from York and both took part.

“They enjoyed it so much they are planning to come along to the next Go Tri.

“Hartlepool Borough Council through the CSAF funding has over the last four years organised numerous Go Tri events.

“We have found they have been growing in popularity as people get to hear how inclusive they are.

“They are designed to help people build up to the Hartlepool Big Lime Triathlon on September 30.”

The next Go Tri is The Santa special on December 1 at Summerhill Country Park which has a Junior (age from 8 to 13) and an adults race (from age 14 plus) this is on off road Duathlon.
