Good report for Blackhall care home

Representatives from CQC undertook an unannounced visit to Abbeyvale Care Home ealier this year, and the subsequent report has rated it good across all areas for being safe, effective, caring, and a responsive and well-led service.

The home provides care and accommodation for up to 56 people, with two general residential units, one floor for those living with dementia and 14 apartments for people with acquired brain injury.

The report said: “People who used the service and their relatives were complimentary about the standard of care at Abbeyvale Care Centre. We saw staff supported and helped to maintain people’s independence. We saw the home was clean, well decorated and maintained. It was warm and comfortably furnished.”

The staff were praised for their good knowledge of people’s needs, for respecting the privacy and dignity of residents and for working hard to encourage independence for every individual.

Ratings were given based on observations by the CQC team and on conversations with staff, residents and their relatives.

There’s a friendly atmosphere and a mutual respect for residents and carers, with many of the same staff working together for many years. We consistently work hard to maintain our service at this high level and we take great pride in having this recognised.”
