Growers travel hundreds of miles for Hartlepool Horticultural Show

Exhibitors travelled from far and wide to enter this year's successful Hartlepool Horticultural Show.

The event at the Town Hall Theatre in Raby Road over the weekend was bursting with bright flowers, home-grown vegetables and various home crafts.

It attracted a total of 687 entries with people from as far away as Dumfries, Nottingham, Derby and Chesterfield taking part.

Congratulations went to the following principal winners; Dahlias – A Gregg from East Boldon, Chrysanthemum – P Webb from Hartlepool, Geraniums – Peter Neilie from Darlington, Fuchsia – J Nicholson of Bishop Auckland and Carnations - E Both from Horden.

In the Vegetables section the principal winner was Tracey Leck and the Best Display was won by Hartlepool’s Kevin Tritschler.

The new Tom Hammond Special Award for the Best Display in the Show of a trophy and £20 was presented to E Williams of Blackhall.
