Citizens Advice Hartlepool is hosting a number of events in support of Big Energy Savings Week which started yesterday.

Staff have set up in Middleton Grange shopping centre where between now and Sunday advisers can show people how to check they are on the best tariff for their needs or if there’s a cheaper deal with a different supplier.

They are also giving tips on other energy saving measures such as cavity wall insulation or double glazing and check if people are eligible for any discounts due to receiving benefits.

Staff will be in the shopping centre from 8am to 6pm daily and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday.

Citizens Advice Hartlepool manager Joe Michna said: “Checking your energy tariff and switching to a cheaper deal is one of the quickest and easiest ways to cut your bills.

“Big Energy Savings Week is also the time to get expert advice on how to make savings before winter starts, from changing energy supplier to insulating your home.

“We would urge everyone to come down to the event, use our price comparison tool or contact our service for advice so they can start to make savings.”

The national campaign is run by Citizens Advice, the Energy Savings Trust and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
