Hartlepool energy business offers lifeline to Utilitywise staff facing redundancy

Utility Alliance is offering guaranteed interviews to anyone worried about their future as rival firm Utliltywise looks to make about 50 staff redundant.

Utilitywise made the announcement on Wednesday, which said the job losses come amid changes to operations at its sites in Portsmouth, Redditch and Newcastle.

In a statement it said: “We expect less than 50 people to actually leave the business as a result of these changes, while at the same time we expect our total overall headcount to grow over the course of the financial year.”

In their interview offer, Ultility Alliance have stressed that there are no guaranteed jobs, but said they welcome applications.

Ian Willis, PR and marketing manager at Utility Alliance, said: “It is very sad to hear when people are losing their jobs.

“There will be lots of talented individuals who may now find themselves out of work. We have a constant recruitment drive in place at Utility Alliance and we are more than happy to offer interviews to anyone who has fears for the future.”

The business – which has been shortlisted for two national awards – was set up in 2015 and has grown dramatically.

Starting out with a team of just six staff, the business had an incredible turnover of £6million by the end of its second year and is now expanding with new offices in Sheffield.
