Hartlepool firm chips in for battling youngster Alfie Smith

A Hartlepool business is backing youngster Alfie Smith's bid to walk.

Alfie, who has cerebral palsy, is in hospital in Leeds this week to undergo a life-changing operation which will help him to walk unaided and pain-free.

Fund-raising is under way to pay for aftercare and specialist equipment.

Now Hartlepool business HeirHunter UK has chipped in to help.

The probate researchers and family tracing specialists donated £250 to Lee Willmot and Stephen Picton, who are raising money for Alfie Smith.

The two recently completed the 874-mile stretch from Land’s End to John O’Groats by hitch-hiking, completing a number of different challenges across the way.

Sarah Kinnie, Senior Probate Researcher at HeirHunter UK, said: “As soon as we saw the video of Alfie, it really touched our hearts and we knew we had to get involved. The work these guys are doing to raise money for his cause is amazing.

“We’re committed to supporting local charity initiatives such as this, and the donation was a complete no-brainer for us.”

HeirHunter UK works to locate missing heirs across the country and has helped to get hundreds of thousands of pounds to relatives of those who have died without a will.

“Because our work is all people based, we really look to donate to such personal causes such as this.”
