Hartlepool funeral directors have busy fundraising year

A Hartlepool funeral directors is looking back on a busy year for fundraising and has thanked everyone who contributed.

Mason & Gerald Martin, in Park Road, has been raising money for various charities.

A total of 338 shoe boxes were collected for The Samaritans Purse Shoe Box Appeal, which were distributed to Eastern European charities.

The Dignity Charity Organ raised £111 for the Sue Ryder charity shop in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, in the run-up to Christmas.

The ladies of Mason & Gerald Martin also held a coffee morning in aid of The British Legion, and a cheque for £260 was presented to Sian Cameron, collections coordinator for Hartlepool.

The Hartlepool Clubs Cribbage League and The Hartlepool Disabled Snooker Club have also benefited from the funeral directors’ charity collections.

Mason & Gerald Martin also continues to support bereaved families with quarterly bus trips and afternoon teas.

Staff from Mason & Gerald Martin have also been out and about in the local community giving talks and an insight into the profession of funeral directing.

Funeral director Damon Steadman said: “We would like to thank the local community for their generosity and for helping us to support all our good causes throughout 2015.
