Hartlepool holidaymaker proves to be one in a million

When Jeanette Morgan checked in at the Port of Tyne for a DFDS mini cruise to Amsterdam, she became the millionth passenger to travel on a mini cruise since their launch in 1995.

Jeanette and her travelling partner Jodi Ann Pearson found themselves being showered in confetti and surprised with a VIP upgrade, including a luxury Commodore de Luxe cabin, onboard meals with wine, and a complimentary canal cruise in Amsterdam.

As an extra treat, during her overnight crossing, Jeanette was given more special treatment, including free wine tasting in one of the onboard bars, champagne and cake in her cabin, plus an invite to the bridge to meet the ship’s Captain.

Jeanette said: "It was such a lovely surprise to find out I was the millionth mini-cruise passenger.

"I'm very grateful to DFDS for this, it will certainly make the trip even more memorable. Today is definitely my lucky day!"

Max Foster, Passenger Director at DFDS, added: "Between them, our two North Sea ships – King Seaways and Princess Seaways – have completed 15,330 journeys and sailed enough miles to go around the world 188 times!

DFDS sails daily with overnight departures from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Its cruise ferries feature four restaurants plus cafes and bars, as well as live music.

Other onboard facilities include a shop, a casino, a cinema and a kidz club to keep children entertained.
