Hartlepool Mayor hoping to curry favour for charity night

Coun Rob Cook and Mayoress Brenda Cook are hosting an Indian supper on Monday, February 27, which is being held at Sheesh Mahal, on Coronation Drive, Seaton Carew.

All of the money raised from the event will go the Mayor of Hartlepool’s two chosen charities - the Great North Air Ambulance and the cancer charity Bloodwise.

Bloowise funds world-class research and offers expert information and support to anyone affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood cancer related disorders.

The Great North Air Ambulance service flies three air ambulance helicopters across the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

They bring pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year.

But this vital service relies purely on the support of the public to survive.

Hartlepool Mayor Coun Rob Cook said: “I would like to thank Sheesh Mahal for supporting this event. 
“The restaurant has a reputation for serving up high quality Indian cuisine and all of the money raised will go to my two chosen charities.”

Coun Cook is a long-standing councillor who represents the De Bruce Ward.

He is former chair of the council’s planning committee, a governor of two schools and a member of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir.

He added: “The Great North Air Ambulance and Bloodwise do a fantastic job helping people at a time of most need and I do appeal to people to support the event.

“Everyone is welcome to join the Mayoress and I for the event whether people are on their own, in a small group or larger group.”

The fundraiser gets under way at 6.30pm with tickets priced at £15, which includes a three course Indian meal.
