Hartlepool pupils set out their stall for Europe links

Erasmus+, which has been created by Catcote Academy in Hartlepool, aims to link business, enterprise and entrepreneurial skills between schools.

It provides an opportunity for schools to learn from one another and ensure that young people are given the right skills and confidence to succeed in life.

The five-country partnership - England, Sweden, Germany Italy and Turkey - involves schools who cater for children and young people with disabilities along with mainstream schools, and will focus on enterprise, entrepreneurship and helping prepare students for employment.

The project will run over three years and is funded by the European Union.

Catcote staff and students recently led teaching and training meetings in Todi, Italy.

The visit included a world market day in the town square, where students applied their work skills while selling products made in school.

A school spokesman said staff and students had thoroughly enjoyed the visit and brought back lots of ideas for future activities that will aid in the preparation to the world of work.

Another group of staff and students will visit Germany in March, with educational visits to Turkey and Sweden planned in the future.
