Newton Aycliffe-based Collins Seafoods has pledged to support the club.

It will provide new swimming kit and help with marketing and PR support, which includes the redesign of its website and promoting the club’s news and success stories. It will also ensure the swimming club receives help with its social media accounts from Darlington-based agency, Harvey & Hugo.

Collins Seafoods has prided itself on being involved with the local community and supporting local clubs.

Owner Richard Collins knows all too well about how important it can be to receive help along the way.

He founded Collins Seafoods on his own in 1980 and has seen his company grow into a multimillion-pound business.

Richard - whose children used to compete as part of the swimming club - said: “When I was starting my business, I was given a helping hand and I really appreciated it, so I know how important it is to give back and help the local community. The swimmers at the club are very talented, dedicated and motivated and this is why I’m so proud to be part of this sponsorship deal, which will help them in their swimming careers.

“I strongly believe that lack of funding should never stop anyone from accomplishing their dreams.”

The club which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2020, has produced several Olympic athletes, including current Olympian, Jemma Lowe.

Head coach Ian Bullock said: “It means a great deal, not only to myself and the swimmers, but the club as a whole to have this fantastic sponsorship from such a distinguished company.”
