Hartlepool teen invited on stage by Adele for a selfie

Matthew Hutchinson, from Hart Village, travelled to Manchester to see Adele in concert when he caught her attention.

The famous songstress, who is set to headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival, invited the 19-year-old up on stage for a cheeky snap during the gig.

It’s the second showbiz run-in Matthew has had recently.

He watched Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway from the ‘best seats in the house’ – a sofa in the studio – along with his dad Darran, mum Helen, sister Libby and brother Nicholas, two weeks ago.

Matthew, who is studying theology and religious studies at the University of York, said: “I was going through my photos before the gig and found a selfie that I’d got with the Adele waxwork when I was at Madame Tussauds.

“I’m not sure why I did, but I printed it out and took it to the concert with me. She happened to walk right past me down the aisle and I handed her the picture.

“She took it off me and looked at and just said, ‘That won’t do will it? Come up on stage and get a selfie’.

“I was never expecting that.

“If I’d known she was going to do that, I would have taken her something better than just a printed-out photo.

“It was so amazing getting up stage with her, and she was so nice. She said I was lovely and said that I had the best eyes.

“I’m a huge fan – she’s amazing. I went to Manchester specially for the gig, but I never imagined I’d get up on stage with Adele.”

Matthew added: “It’s been a mad few weeks for my family.

“We got to go on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and I got to meet Adele. I can’t believe how lucky we’ve been.”
