Hartlepool teenager proves apprenticeships pay

The 19-year-old from Hartlepool has landed a full-time job with Jacksons Law Firm after completing her NVQ Business Administration Level 2 training – all with the support of the company.

She began her apprenticeship in December 2014 and got tuition and guidance from skills provider Ingeus. It helped her to get her NVQ qualification just before Christmas last year.

Now, her delighted bosses have praised Rebecca and the course which helped her do so well.

Adrienne Patterson, HR manager at Jacksons Law Firm, said: “We have seen first-hand the benefits of giving young people work experience whilst training. It provides them with a great understanding of what it is like being in a busy office environment and dealing with people at all levels.

“Rebecca’s confidence has soared in the last 12 months and she has gained many new skills required for her new role. We are very proud of what she has achieved and are looking forward to working with her and supporting further training in the future.”

Ingeus tutor Claire Pucci said: “It is fantastic to see the progress Rebecca has made and it’s rewarding to be part of a success story such as hers. 

“She has a bright future ahead and I wish her every success in her career.”

Now, Rebecca is planning to continue her studies.

She is looking at training courses to develop her secretarial and administration skills still further –all with the support of the law firm.

She is a former student of Brinkburn College in Hartlepool and studies heath and social care and English language for two years, before taking up her apprenticeship.

She started her new role in December and is now supporting partners and solicitors at Jacksons Law Firm as an administrative assistant.
