The Pools boss has named an unchanged side in the last five National League games, and hopes to be able to do so again at the Super 6 Stadium against Barrow tonight.

But Woods, taken off shortly before the hour in the win at Havant & Waterlooville, is rated as 50-50 according the club.

“He is OK, he had a kick,” said Bates.

“I wanted to freshen it up anyway in the game, I thought we looked tired.”

Meanwhile, Woods is desperate to stay in the side, especially with competition for places so high at Pools this season.

That situation is particularly acute in the centre of midfield.

“This is a new squad, with new players and it really feels like we are starting to build something,” said Woods.

“There is a competition for places - so far there have been no injuries which means the competition has been massive.

“The games do come thick and fast, though. The whole squad will be needed.

“Everyone is on their toes - the lads with the shirt are desperate to keep it.”

Luke Williams could be included tonight.
