Oates had been in good form until limping off with a thigh problem in the 1-0 win at Cambridge.

But the 22-year-old was back today with Lewis Hawkins moving down to the bench with Lewis Alessandra taking a midfield role.

Portsmouth boss Paul Cook made two changes to his team.

Former Pools star, Christian Burgess, returns at centre-half after suspension, replacing Tom Davies while Noel Hunt was named up top with Eoin Doyle out with a groin injury
