His first signing of the January transfer window, the winger, bought from Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee, had a super debut in the 1-0 win over Wycombe.

Thomas was the provider for Scott Fenwick’s winner and almost set up a couple of others.

“Nathan did well and you can see what’s to come, there was plenty there on Saturday to whet the appetite.

“For the goal, he’s done the lad then put in a fabulous ball and Scotty’s done brilliant to get across the lad and finish it.

“There was another in the first half he’s put in that no-one got on the end of.

“In the second half before he came off he had a helluva run and their lad has just got a toe on it.

“We’ll we get his fitness levels right and then we have a fantastic player.

“I think he’s the one who can light the blue touchpaper.”

Should tomorrow night’s match at Accrington beat the weather, it is unlikely Thomas will be risked having come off with calf trouble.

“Of course you’d have liked him to stay on,” said Moore. “But had that touch of cramp turned into a calf strain and then he could be out for four or five weeks.”

While Thomas, rightly, won praise, so too did the other 12 players who played.

“It was a fantastic win – you can see why Wycombe are up there,” he said.

“We’ve had a bit of luck, but we’ve earned that.

“In the previous two games we played well here and got nothing bit on Saturday we dug deep and I’ve got nothing but praise for them.

“They threw the kitchen kink at us for the last 20 minutes but we defended magnificently.

“They had a complaint for a penalty? Was it? I don’t know but if it was there’s a little bit of luck going our way that we’ve deserved.

“It was a great three points.

“The fans have been brilliant, they know we should not be in this mess we are in.

“But if keep performing like we have been performing and have a little bit of luck then I am sure we are going to be OK.”
