Hartlepool’s Aldersyde Day Nursery has received a donation from homebuilder Bellway to spend on outdoor equipment.

The company, which is building properties a few miles away from the nursery at its Hartwell Park development, gave £200.

The money will be spent on planters, splash suits and gardening equipment so that the children can enjoy being outside during their time at the nursery.

Claire Wainwright, the manager of the nursery, which is in The Parade, said: “Thank you so much to Bellway for their kind donation. The money has been contributed to our new mini vegetable beds at the bottom of our garden.

“This has allowed us to purchase some gardening tools, seeds and a mini greenhouse. As well as this, we have bought all-weather splash suits, so we can grow, care and harvest our own vegetables.

“This is important to not only promote healthy eating but also the physical and emotional well-being that comes from watching our hard work bloom, as well as the outdoor fresh air benefits.”

Hayley Teasdale, Bellway Durham sales manager, said: “Supporting children’s education and development is so important and as our Hartwell Park development is only a few miles away from Aldersyde Day Nursery we were pleased to help them with a donation.

“The nursery is a facility which some of the residents at Hartwell Park may take their children to in the future, so we were keen to help provide high-quality equipment as part of its enriching learning environment for the children.

“These items are sure to help keep them active and interested in their outdoor activities.”

Bellway is building 370 homes at Hartwell Park, on land off Hart Road.

The development includes a mix of two, three and four-bedroomed houses.
