Hartlepool & District Hospice says it is delighted its Colour Run tomorrow has captured people’s imagination.

It is a fun run with a difference as runners will be showered from head to toe in different colours of paint powder along the route.

Registration is now closed after 270 people signed up to take part, but the hospice is still urging spectators to support the event.

Janice Forbes, community fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We have been amazed with the response to the Colour Run and are looking forward to a great event.”

Runners of all ages will gather at the old coach park on The Front in Seaton Carew at 11am on Saturday.

But the activities start from 10am when DJ Kevin King will be warming up the crowd until the start of the race.

The run follows a 5km route from the promenade along the seafront to Newburn Bridge and back.

They will find themselves facing the paint shower at four stations along the route.

Participants received a white T-shirt when they registered which will be all the colours of the rainbow by the end of the event.

Hospice fundraiser Greg Hildreth added: “We have had an overwhelming response – one of the best we have ever had for a first time event. We would like to thank everyone who has supported including all our sponsors. We would also still urge people to come along and watch on the day.” It is sponsored by Redhead Associates, Fire 97, Focus Cladding and Tangent Construction.
