The Sky Sports presenter passed the 200 mile mark on the latest leg of his epic journey, which has given him a big boost.

Thankfully Day 8 of the challenge remained dry as Jeff and the rest of the walkers completed another 26 miles as they walked from Oldham Athletic FC via Rochdale AFC to Accrington Stanley.

Jeff is currently walking 15 marathons in 15 days, just a year after taking part in 10 marathon walks for the charity.

The challenge, which kicked off on Friday, June 2, and will run until Friday, June 16, will see Jeff and companions walk 400 miles from Exeter City’s St James Park to Newcastle United’s St James’s Park.

Along the way he is visiting more than 40 football clubs and is being joined by some famous faces and lots of other marchers.

Among them have been former Liverpool defender, Nick Tanner, who joined them for one leg of the challenge.

But Day 8 was a massive milestone for the Hartlepool United FC fan as he passed the half-way point.

He said: “We have had a good day today, plodding on. The weather has been good and it has been a beautiful walk.

“It is amazing to reach the half-way point, it is a really, really uplifting moment.

“There are moments when you are feeling it is very hard, but to know you are over half of the way there is great.”

The team have been thankful for better weather after encountering horrendous gales and downpours earlier in the week.

Jeff said: “It was so horrendous, the worst day I have experienced in this challenge and last year.”

But, he said the spirits of everyone is kept up by the support from everyone on the way.

He said: “The support we are getting really has been phenomenal. Not just from people we are passing, but for example the Wigan Supporters’ Club handed us a cheque for £750 as we were leaving.”

Jeff has set himself a target of raising £500,000 through the walk and the figure already stands at more than £201,000.

Speaking to the Mail earlier this week he added: “I’ve been looking for landmarks, and going through 100 miles was a big one.

“We’ve raised a lot of money so far, which is great, and hopefully a lot of awareness as well.”
