A club statement read: "Sunderland AFC is advising supporters that the game against Blackpool FC at the Stadium of Light, which is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday 13 October, could be postponed.

"The game falls within a period designated for international fixtures.

"Under EFL rules, if three or more first-team players are called up for their respective countries, then the club is entitled to apply to have the fixture re-scheduled.

"Once the international selections have been confirmed and a decision is made regarding the game, Sunderland AFC will advise supporters."
