High-flying dancers are set to wow crowd in new show

A performing arts academy is pulling out all the stops for a show which is set to hit the heights.

A cast of 160 people will perform in the latest Val Armstrong School of Performing Arts production in Hartlepool.

Hitting The Heights is described as “exploding with high flying talent” as it features flying scenes as well as Aladdin flying his magic carpet, and an “exciting new Acro troupe.”

Organisers have described it as featuring the best talent in a variety of song and dance, including award winning hip-hop dancers.

The show runs at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, from Monday, February 27 to Saturday, March 4.

There will be performances at 6.30pm each evening as well as a Saturday afternoon show from 1.30pm.

Val Armstrong said: “We are into our third month of rehearsals.”

She said the show would feature scenes not seen before and added: “The show runs for about two and a half hours and we have a cast of 160, with people aged from 18 months upwards.”

Val Armstrong and her daughter Hollie Sorelle have put together the choreography and Val has also produced the six-night production.

She added: “The difference is that it is brand new choreography.”

Val said the show would also include performers from the Urban Rockz academy which is also based at the studios in Whitby Street South.

She added: “We only do a production every two years so we tend to go all out. It is non-stop and everyone is working very hard.”

Tickets are selling really fast and they cost £10 or £9 with concessions.
