I have just read our esteemed MP Iain Wright's piece about Donald Trump's election.

I can honestly say that I agree totally with his assessment of the possible implications for us all. However, he could not resist yet another oblique side swipe at those of his constituents who voted to leave the EU.

We are all well aware of Mr Wright’s views on the issue and that he believes the vast majority of his constituents who voted for Brexit are wrong. He should, occasionally at least, give some time and thought to local issues which affect his constituents more directly and less to national and international issues, which I’m sure might bode well for his political furure in the Westmnster bubble but are of little or no concern to those who voted for him.

Leaving Mr Trump aside for one moment (happily), I would like to see him voicing with much more ire the lack of our A&E department, the still standing eyesore that is the Longscar centre in Seaton Carew, and also the lack of public toilets in the town which restricts the movement of so many people, including myself.

I’m sure readers can suggest many more such concerns. America can take care of itself no matter what we think. Our interest is in our own town of Hartlepool.

I felt a reminder of that to Mr Wright was timely.

Tim Moss,

Seaton Carew.
