Hospital chiefs face questions over Hartlepool fertility service

The re-convened meeting of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Audit & Governance Committee takes place in the Civic Centre starting at 10am tomorrow.

Doors open at 9.30am and seats will be available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

Senior Hartlepool councillors have recently revealed that they are exploring all options – including legal action – to prevent the planned closure of licensed fertility services at the town’s hospital.

It follows the meeting of the council’s Audit & Governance Committee on Friday, February 5, when trust bosses failed to turn up to explain their reasons for the imminent closure at the end of March.

The meeting had to be adjourned as councillors were unable to put questions to the trust, while the committee requested the Secretary of State should intervene.
