Italian giants AC Milan to hold summer school in Hartlepool

Top football coaches from one of Europe's biggest clubs will pass on their skills to the next generation in Hartlepool this summer.

Seaton Carew Football Club have signed a partnership deal with Italian giants AC Milan to host a coaching camp for two weeks in August.

It is hoped AC Milan ambassador and playing legend Frano Baresi will be one of the coaches helping youngsters develop their skills on the pitch at Seaton’s Horny Park home ground.

And three young players who stand out the most will be invited to go to AC Milan’s academy in Italy in March next year, where they will get to play in a game and also visit the San Siro stadium.

AC Milan has held similar coaching camps in the North East, but this is the first oneon Teesside.

Carl Dunn, who runs the soccer schools through his company Azzuri Sports Management, said: “It is a good opportunity for kids to be trained by AC Milan coaches, who do it for a living.

“When the season ends, instead of doing nothing the coaches do camps all over.

“Hopefully, this will be the start of a long-term relationship with Seaton. I have been very impressed with the whole set-up of the club and they have a strong bond with the community.

“I think it will probably be one of the best camps we have ever had, and the coaches from Milan will be impressed and happy to be there.”

Some of the Italian giant’s finest coaches will coach 100 youngsters in the camps in the weeks of August 15-19 and 22-26.

Seaton Carew FC chairman Steve Cockrill said: “I’m thrilled to see the AC Milan Junior Camp come to Hartlepool.

“This is a great opportunity not only for our young players but for all the children in the local area.

“We are hoping to make our partnership a long and successful one that will grow and grow each year.”

Places cost £157, which includes the cost of a full AC Milan strip and went on general sale on Monday.

Seaton vice-chairman added: “It will be great for our club, that’s for sure, and also benefit our coaches as well as the kids.”
