Jeff is walking 15 marathons in 15 days, a year after taking part in 10 marathon walks for the charity.

The challenge, which kicked off on Friday, June 2, and will run until Friday, June 16, will see Jeff and companions walk 400 miles from Exeter City’s St James Park to Newcastle United’s St James’s Park.

Along the way he is visiting more than 40 football clubs and is being joined by some famous faces and lots of other marchers.

The Day 7 leg of the journey on Thursday took the walkers from Wigan Athletic to Manchester City, taking in Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United grounds.

Speaking to the Hartlepool Mail along the way, Jeff said: “We really feared the worst last night because the weather forecast was absolutelty horrendous. When I got up, I went straight to the window and it was pouring down.

“But, luckily the rain stopped quite early on and thankfully it was a lot better than they said it was going to be.”

Jeff said everyone along the way has been so supportive and he was looking forward to meeting up with footballing legend, David Law, who was due to join them at Manchester City.

He said: “The support we are getting really has been phenomenal. Not just from people we are passing, but for example the Wigan Supporters’ Club handed us a cheque for £750 as we were leaving, so that set us up nicely for the day.”

Jeff said on Day 5 of the challenge the group had the worse weather, rain and wind, that he had encountered on the challenges so far.

He said: “It was truely terrible. The rain was pouring and it was blowing a gale.”

But, the walkers carried on and are well on the way towards achieving their goal of raising £500,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The figure currently stands at just short of £200,000 and everyone is being urged to dig deep to help the cause.
